This room had to have a purpose, being on an intermediate level of this house. Nobody would walk half a flight of steps up in to the room with no purpose. So, the Owner had suggested using this room for shooting pool. He'd purchased a fairly ornate pool table and asked to design a contemporary Wall Unit that will integrate, among other things, a salt water fish tank, a wet bar, his collection of toy cars, a TV, plus a storage cabinet for his pool table accessories.

Mahogany had been selected as the choice of wood, and Black Galaxy granite as the choice of stone for the counter tops. The custom-made fish tank was completely built-in with plenty of storage for the filtration system, and the accessory drawers right under the tank. The top panel provided an easy access for cleaning the tank and feeding the fish. The Wet Bar was designed with an equal balance of open glass shelves and closed storage, plus a smoked mirror back panel. A separate cabinet was designated for the toy car collection, - lots of glass shelves with an overhead halogen illumination. The built-in corner TV created enough background noise to simulate a bar room environment and keep those who were just watching the pool game entertained.

Even though the style of the pool table and the wall unit are different, they don't seem to clash. The stain color was matched exactly on both pieces, thus helping to unify the traditional and contemporary styles.
