Not Just Another Bathroom

What makes this bathroom stand out from the rest is a unique blend of function and appearance. No effort was spared to achieve the most comfort, as well as striking appearance, in creating a one-of-a-kind Master Bathroom; a spacious, warm, luxurious "dream sanctuary" area of the Master Bedroom Suite, which has a panoramic water view. One of the homeowners' pre-requisites was the ability for both, husband and wife, to function in the new bathroom simultaneously, while preserving a complete personal privacy. Other items on the wish list included a large window with a view of the open bay, a double vanity, a platform tub, and a walk-in shower.

What happened then was a series of preliminary layouts, juxtaposing the bedroom, walk-in-closet and the bath. One layout had been chosen, and subsequently refined and fine-tuned, shaping this bathroom into an unforgettable, splendid personal environment, with an utmost attention given to every design detail. The bathroom floor is a combination of Crema Marfil and Verde Maritaka border marble. The same Verde Maritaka marble was used for the vanity and tub platform top, as well as a custom-made decorative 4-inch wall border with a sandblasted Greek key design. A rich, deep mahogany stain on the vanity cabinet and the wall panels softened the otherwise sleek appearance of the marble floor and half walls, and contributed to the striking appearance of the Master Bathroom. Another major factor, which contributes to the ambiance of this room, is a combination of a large arch top picture window and a smaller casement window, which overlook a beautiful backyard and a 30 x 60 foot dock.

What a great soothing feeling and a mood setter it is to stretch out in a 6 foot Jacuzzi tub, with a glass of wine by your side, and an incredible picturesque view of the bay with its calm waters right in front of you!

Both, the toilet and shower areas were partitioned off the rest of the bathroom with a French pocket door, plus a decorative sandblasted glass panel. Same decorative glass design was used on the shower door. Even though the toilet and shower are both set back away from the windows, the decorative glass panel helps bring the natural day light into that area, thus eliminating the need for an artificial light. When the daylight is over and the dusk settles in, the bathroom takes on a totally different look with a help of the beautiful hand-painted wall sconces above the vanity, decorative large candles and the overhead ceiling lights. All lights are on the separate circuits, and may be controlled individually, adjusting the light intensity with the electric dimmers.
